A workshop to raise awareness of the impact of loss, and related trauma on children and families.

This session will look at the theory and practice involved with managing traumatic events that occurs during critical incidents for senior leaders in schools.

This course will be a practical and experiential exploration of shame and our understanding of what it is. This includes how shame differs to guilt and how it impacts children in schools.

This course looks at the theory and practice of anxiety – how it can occur, what it looks like, how it is understood and then how we can work (alongside parents) to support children with anxiety in a positive and successful manner.

A practical workshop, using current theory and research in managing change, anxiety and school transition. The afternoon will be an opportunity to explore ‘what works’ to enhance the experience of moving on to secondary school.

The making sense of autism training will give you a better understanding and awareness of autism and the way it affects pupils in school.

This is a two-part training course to apply the theory and practice of Precision Teaching (PT) as a formative assessment strategy to enhance numeracy and handwriting / spelling skills. There is an expectation that all delegates will undertake an assignment using the PT approach between sessions 1 and 2.

In this session, we will briefly explore theories of attachment and consider how attachment can impact children’s learning and social and emotional development. We will then learn how therapeutic play approaches can be used in a child-centred way to support the well-being of vulnerable children at school.

This session will explore resources that help staff understand what is considered appropriate and normal behaviour for the age and stage of development of children and young people and reflect on which behaviours might be considered more concerning.

Participants will learn an overview of expressive language development, Colourful Semantics and how this approach can be used to support speaking and writing.
