Contract: 3-Year Fixed Term
Salary: MPS/UPS £31,650 - £49,084 per annum
Location: Whitleigh Community Primary School, Plymouth

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teacher to lead a small nurture classroom of up to 10 pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and some learning difficulties. You’ll play a vital role in creating an inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment, delivering the National Curriculum with thoughtful adaptations to ensure every child can progress and thrive.
About the Role:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs in line with our curriculum.
- Foster a nurturing and structured classroom environment that supports emotional and social development
- Implement positive behaviour strategies to help pupils thrive
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, ensuring they feel valued and safe
- Track and assess progress, adapting teaching to meet evolving needs
- Form positive relationships with parents/ carers and provide regular opportunities for reviews
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and learning difficulties
- Strong behaviour management skills using positive reinforcement techniques
- Ability to create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Skilled at building relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children succeed
