Job Description

Teaching Assistant

Salary: Grade D, FTE £24,702 - £26,421 (actual £16,478 - £18,234, based on 28.83hrs per week)

Contract: 39 weeks per year

At Longcause School we are passionate about our pupils. We aim to be a school that delivers what it promises for our pupils and families, by delivering first class learning for pupils with Autism, by encapsulating individual interests and strengths.

If you are passionate about SEN, and would enjoy the rewards and challenges of working with children or would like a new challenge of working within a Special School we would love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs. Be able to engage with sometimes complex children, encouraging social interaction, developing independence, self-esteem, and encouraging all individuals to achieve their goals.

You will be flexible about working with children of all ages from Reception to Year 11. This presents the opportunity to work in a variety of settings in the school and work with pupils with a variety of needs.

In return we offer a friendly and supportive environment where we encourage the development and promotion of our support staff. We have specialist support staff trained in specific lead roles such as PACE/attachment trauma, Theraplay, Read, Write Inc, sensory integration and musical play. We are a school committed to providing therapeutic interventions to meet the core needs of our pupils. We have exciting opportunities available for staff that are keen to embrace and learn this holistic way of education.

We offer term time only posts (28.83 hours per week across 5 days – 39 weeks per year) but can be flexible with part time working requests.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References will be sought ahead of the interview process and an enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post, along with online searches as per safer recruitment guidelines.
