9th November 2017 Mayflower 400 – School Coordinators Needed

2020 is not that far away and the Mayflower 400 clock is ticking. Between now and 2020 there will be increasing opportunities for schools to engage in a range of activities and projects to mark the important celebration and beyond. A core number of schools are already involved, though this is patchy. If you want your school to be able to access fully the opportunities that Mayflower 400 will present you will need to identify an eager school based coordinator. It doesn’t have to be a specific subject leader and many of the opportunities are contemporary and relevant for today’s curriculum, including STEM. See teacher exchange opportunity below by following the link.
International Mayflower Teachers’ Programme- April 2018 Opportunity
Please email the name and contact details of your Mayflower 400 School Coordinator to: kathryn.walker@plymouth.gov.uk who is the city-wide coordinator.

Free WW1 Battlefields tour for Plymouth secondary schools with West Country author in residence.
This is a government funded First World War Centenary Education Programme, which funds two students and one teacher from every secondary and middle school, SEN and PRU establishment, to go to the Western Front as part of the Centenary Commemorations, with the hope that those students returning will embark on a legacy project into their community to ensure we “Never Forget”. 10th August 2017 Complex Families Pilot

Livewell South West are seeking a primary school to take part in a complex families pilot study.

‘The pilot will be focused on families who have multiple service interventions working with them but who are not making expected progress towards outcomes, and are below a child protection threshold. We expect these families to be experiencing multiple difficulties including adult mental health, possible substance misuse issues, frequent visitors to GP etc. We would also like to focus on an area with higher levels of deprivation.’
